The Last Data was created for the Ludum Dare 42. The theme for this jam was "Running out of space."
With my team, we decided to create a top-down runner game in which corruption grows behind the character.
For the level design, I worked with the intention of creating a sensation of pressure. To achieve this, the corruption grows over time to convey this feeling.
Levels 0-3 are designed to teach the player the controls and introduce the concept of corruption progression.
Level 4 will reward players who have learned the timing of the corruption. During playtests, most players who were unfamiliar with the level managed to navigate it successfully on their second attempt.
For levels 5 to 9 and 12, I simply increased the difficulty. Additionally, I had planned to implement a new mechanic involving a door that could block the player and be opened or closed with a button. However, we didn't have the time to implement it.
